Though God is always embracing us, we have a baffling capacity to ignore him in our times of strength. Eventually the world tears us down, and this suffering also tears down the veil of our strength. In these moments of weakness, we again recognize his presence and are ‘most near’ Christ, who came to heal the sick.
Willingly surrendering ourselves to God’s will shortcuts and mitigates this agony of crushing defeat by the world and brings us faster and more devoutly to returning God’s loving embrace. (Better to fall down a mountain side with a chosen starting point and a strategy to tuck and roll than to accidentally slip and flail chaotically all the way down.)
God provides us many instructions and tools to cooperate with his grace and effectively discern his will and align with his way of life. Seek out all you can and pray without ceasing. Remove obstacles from your path and seek to heal your wounds. Align your body, mind, and heart with your soul, and unite your soul with God.
These are monumental tasks, but the journey is beautiful and truly worthwhile.
