One way I find God is in practicing love and gratitude in the present moment, unattached to the past or future or things outside my control. In this state, fear and temptation lose their power; I can fly like an eagle and jump obstacles like a gazelle.
Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change (nearly everything and everyone), courage to change the things I can (very little even in my own body and life), and wisdom to know the difference (I am not God and I am severely limited but have free will to choose my attitude and many critical decisions in my life).
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference. Thy will, not mine, be done. Amen.
Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.
